FOR APPLICATIONS:
Applications must be received at the
Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor
and Convention Bureau,
614 S. Broadway, Santa Maria, CA
93454
no later than 4:00 p.m.,June 20th.
You will be contacted for a personal
interview.
Based on this program’s commitment to creating a
diverse mix of participants, generally no more than
two people from any one company or organization will
be selected for the same class.
Applications can be carried over for consideration
the following year. Since this program requires a
considerable time commitment, approval from the
candidate’s employer to take the necessary time
of 10-12 days during the year from work is
requested.
- Membership or
interest in the Chamber of Commerce is not a
prerequisite for acceptance
- Ideal candidates
want to get involved in their community. They
are looking for information about the community
and leadership skills that will help them
determine where to focus their energies.
They may already be serving on boards or
commissions and in leadership roles, or they may
just be starting their leadership pathway.
- Common qualities
of leadership candidates are a commitment to
personal and professional growth,
an attitude of service to their community, and a
willingness to view community issues from a
broad perspective.
